Stars in the night sky

Maybe it has been my recent visit to the Greenwich Observatory that has re-ignited my plan to make an illustration of the night sky. An other reason might have been the fact that it's dark outside at 4 pm and that Christmas is approaching rapidly.
So, I have been busy cutting stars into lino and sprinkling them on a dark blue backdrop. Planets in our solar system have been placed around our sun (the really big star). I connected stars that make up the Big Dipper and Orion (the only constellations I can locate by myself). As it stands the illustration also includes a few man-made objects such as a satellite and Piers Seller's spatula, and even a bit of the Milky Way can be seen.

Kind Type - Font

My latest font: Kind Type is based on watercolor painted letters. Open, bold strokes with rounded terminals make it a very legible typeface even at small size. This typeface has a soft, friendly character with a distressed edge. It is suitable for short paragraphs, captions or headings.
